A Working Fine Art Studio & Gallery

As a fine art gallery and working art studio, we sell what we make: works on paper like drawings and prints, paintings on canvas and paper, hand-painted silk scarves, cotton bandanas and other painted objects. We also reproduce limited editions of our designs on ties and home goods.

You Support Local Creative Economies Here & Abroad

When you shop here, you support artists from around the globe - that's why we carry fair-trade certified goods like Baskets of Cambodia who make all sorts of bags from woven river grasses and baskets as well as jewelry from Novica and others who promote self-sustaining local economies.

In our gallery at Rio Claro Studio, we showcase the works of artists and artisans, like Christine Terrell's, "Adaptive Reuse," a jewelry line made with recycled tin; fused glass jewelry by local artist Deb Gibson from Canyon Lake TX and "Clapping Waves," the jewelry of Katherine Bagley, an old friend from Gloucester MA.

How Did We End Up In San Marcos Texas?

The short answer is - completely by accident. Looking for warmer winter weather - and to realize our dream of running an art studio that could be open to the public throughout the year - we recently moved to Texas from Massachusetts. While exploring all the beauty Central Texas has to offer, we happened upon the quaint downtown of San Marcos and fell in love with the river and its clear, cool, spring waters, and the young, vibrant vibe of the city. The river inspired us to name our studio Rio Claro.

We are happy to make our new home in San Marcos, Texas where we feel so welcome. Come visit us; online or in person, we would like to welcome you to our studio and our home. Come see what we are making today!
