Pushing Past Boundaries

Pushing Past Boundaries

detail of silk painting by gigi mederos in 2019

Back in the studio this week after a truly un-Texas-like cold spell with new stretched silk and a new enthusiasm for watercolor and liquid mediums. The image is from a scarf Gigi just washed out and ironed.

It's wonderful to be out in the studio for a visit and see 2, 3 and 4 frames with silk pieces all in various stages, layout, gutta drawings, initial layers of paintings, and finished/drying works.

And more about the new watercolors and the experience of diving back into that medium after so many years in the next blog post!
